Work package 2: Dissemination of the results

List of partners involved

Lead partner: ISPO and RIVM, AAS, DIfE

Overall strategy and methods

We adopt different strategies of disseminations tailored to the various audiences for which the results of the project will be relevant: Researchers working in this field, public health bodies that propose to conduct prevention initiatives, and stakeholders that have interest in better nutrition and increased physical activities. The target audiences will be reached by different dissemination strategies. For researchers, journal articles and conferences will be used, for public health professionals reports and conferences, and for stakeholders leaflets/brochures. Furthermore, all three groups are internet users who are used to collect information from the web pages.

The objective of WP2 is to ensure that all findings of the work packages 4-7 are fully disseminated to relevant scientists, European public health officials, and other national and international experts and stakeholders and key opinion leaders.

Description of the dissemination work

  1. Expanding the already existing and functioning IDAMES-Websites within the EPIC websites established by WP1 at months 3 with additional information about the project and the progress obtained in each work package, in particular the results of the workshop of WP4. WP2 will condense the findings of each WP including their publications into website information accessible to the public (external web sites). The website updates as well as the reports and leaflets will be further distributed via an e-mail service to stakeholders. This e-mail service needs to be carefully established and continuously updated. WP2 is responsible that relevant original contributions of the partners are accessible at the website (internal websites) and also that each partner organisation set a link to the specific website of the IDAMES Project.
  2. WP2 will produce and publish a leaflet about the SWOT analyses on new technologies suitable for innovative assessment methods and a leaflet about selected methods to be distributed among stakeholders and public health scientists/officials.
  3. The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the assessment of diet including alcohol will be made public via websites and a leaflet distributed among stakeholders and public health scientists/officials and the SOPs will be deposit on particular web-based data collections, i.e. now being established by NUGO (Network of excellence in Nutrigenomics). International societies will be contacted and asked to link to the Websites with the SOPs.
  4. WP2 will publish the Final Report summarizing the main findings of the project. The Final Report is to be prepared in print and on the IDAMES-part of the EPIC websites in order to be more accessible.
  5. WP2 will organize the final result dissemination workshop at the international conference on dietary assessment methods (ICDAM) in Washington DC, USA, June 3-7, 2009. Since the organizing committee for this conference is not formed yet we can not give details how the final workshop will be organized (satellite workshop, own session, scientific presentations) . However, the organizer of the conference (A. Subar) is one of the consultants of this project. The conference is the main scientific event for experts in the field of dietary assessment, organized every 3 to 4 years and perfectly suited to communicate our findings. The conference is a major event with about 600 participants worldwide and a conference agenda covering several days.
  6. WP2 establish the means such as recording Website access that is part of the methodologies to estimate the long term sustainable impact of the project (See WP3)
